Since February of this year, the Care and Share Food Pantry at The Triad Dream Center has held evening distributions of food to local residents in need of food assistance. Each recipient was greeted with love and an encouraging word. After completing necessary paperwork, each client was escorted to their vehicle with their blessing of food.
Care & Share has been distributing food to the local area since 1985. We are currently serving over 500 families each month, distributing more than 16,000 pounds of food. Partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank and other local agencies/organizations we are able to provide a portion of the physical needs of our recipients.
One in six people in our area are food insecure and one in four children go hungry every day. 32% of our distribution is for children and 10% is for seniors. The percentage of households living at or below poverty level in our area is at 78%.
Second Harvest Food Bank remains our largest supporter of food. Agape Faith Church in Clemmons is our primary support for all other expenses. Thanks in large to the generosity of these two donors, we have been able to make a difference in the lives of over 13,000 families in this area. But the need continues to grow and we continue to need help from the community.
In addition to our daytime hours, the Care and Share Food Pantry is open Wednesday evenings from 4PM to 7PM.
